This module is the basis for a series of mods related to the Dark Brotherhood. Much of the content in it will not be evident in the vanilla game because it is meant for the other mods. However, there are a few changes noticeable even for a vanilla assassin.

Real estate

As the title says, most of the changes concern the real estate. These are not player houses, these are properties belonging to the Dark Brotherhood. You, as a member of the Cheydinhal Sanctuary, may gain access to some of them as your rank progresses.

The largest change is to the Cheydinhal Sanctuary. You now have a bed and a chest of your own and cannot sleep in other people’s beds. Logical, really. Also, there seem to have been some excavation works done and new areas have been opened up, including a Speaker’s chamber, a swimming pool and a crypt. In the vanilla game this will remain largely cosmetic because your Speaker will not come into the Sanctuary. Still, there should be a room for him, don’t you think?

Other changes you will discover for yourself. They work with the game and allow for normal vanilla progression, if that is your choice.

Contract bonusses

If you are careful with your contracts, you receive bonusses – enchanted weapons and armour. I didn’t like how they were leveled, with weaker versions being too weak and stronger versions being completely overpowered, in particular compared to your regular Dark Brotherhood armour.

In this version, all wearable items always have the same enchantment strength which is somewhere half-way and is comparable to the armour. The weapons however get stronger as your corresponding skills grow – skills, not level. Improve your skills at Destruction and Blade or Marksman to trigger an update. The lowest enchantment level is again somewhere half-way of vanilla, and the strongest is a little lower than vanilla. The weapons are updated automatically when they are in your inventory and your skills increase. This does not conflict with mods that automatically update leveled items or mods that unlevel all rewards because these are technically all new items.
